Buchanan County, DeKalb County crushing victory Tuesday night and 8-aa 77-57 region.

Josh Ruehlen scored a game-high 31 points to pace the Lions (17-5 overall, 6-1 in 8-AA). Teammate Jacob Nave added 12.

Cannon County took over sole possession of first place in 8-AA with York Institute's loss to Central Magnet on Tuesday.

MTCS 53, Forrest 37: Barr Ellenburg scored a team-high 11 points. Kavan Hill and Joseph Peck each scored nine and Trey Lashlee had eight.

MTCS (9-11 overall, 5-2 in District 9-A) hosts Eagleville (12-7, 4-2) on Friday.

Central Magnet 70, York Institute 63: Central Magnet won its first District 8-AA win with the overtime win. Jeremiah Petty hit 4-of-4 free throws down the stretch to pull out the win for Central Magnet (3-20, 1-6).

Girls

Cannon Co. 63, DeKalb Co. 33: Kendra Maynard scored 17 points and Kelli Davis added 15 to lead the Lionettes (16-5, 3-4 in 8-AA). DeKalb County fell to 16-8 overall, 1-6 in 8-AA.

Forrest 65, MTCS 59: Junior Ashlynd Wilkerson scored a game-high 29 points in the Lady Cougars' loss. Camden Adams and Abby Buckner each had nine points. Mary Claire Dutton added seven for MTCS (17-3, 4-3 in 9-A).
