Carrillo Magnet School Seventy-eighth Annual Las Vegas Wave Saddas Parade Began Friday

Tucson Carrillo magnet school hosted the Seventy-eighth annual Las Vegas wave Saddas marched through the school nearby, Friday, December 12th.

The TUSD school, located at 440 S. Main Ave., will begin its festivities at 5 p.m. with mariachi music and folklórico performances. Food will be available for purchase.

The procession will begin at 7 p.m. in the school's courtyard, where about 30 children dressed in period costumes will walk through the historic Barrio Viejo neighborhood with families, friends and community members singing traditional songs accompanied by a guitar and horn players.

"Parents, grandparents and great-grandparents come to me and say ‘I was a part of this.' It's a time when the community comes together as one," said Carrillo Magnet School principal, Lori Conner. "Las Posadas speaks to the heart of the neighborhood."
